Book Review: Elfslayer by Nathan Long

ElfslayerElfslayer by Nathan Long

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay…this book…this book, this book, this book. The middle part of this book made me squeamish (darn druchii jails….) but all in all, this was a good novel and I enjoyed it.

So basically…this book was about a dwarf named Gotrek and his human friend, Felix Jaeger, going to find a Harp that’s with the dark elves, thanks to that stupid rat person that I can’t name right now, and along with Max and Claudia, a seeress, they did get the Harp…but at the end it was destroyed, along with Gotrek (whom I hope is still living).

The one thing that freaked me out about the book was when they were in the druchii jail. The druchii jail….OMG I wouldn’t survive. Just reading about what they had to do and what they had to eat from that cauldron….it honestly made me sick to my stomach. And those druchii was just….OMG I can’t even think about it.

But even though this is a short book review, I did love it a lot 🙂

Book Review: The Virgin’s Secret by Victoria Alexander

The Virgin's SecretThe Virgin’s Secret by Victoria Alexander

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I haven’t read a Victoria Alexander novel in so long, that when I saw this book, I had to pick it up. And honestly…it was a very good read.

Gabriella Montini’s brother, Enrico Montini, had a seal that he discovered during one of his adventures, but it was stolen before he died, and Gabriella decided that it was up to her to find it and present it to this society. But after breaking in the Harrington manor, after Lady Regina’s coming out ball, that she found herself working with Nathanial Harrington to get the seal back from whoever the thief was.

During the time that they were finding the seal, Nathanial and Gabriella fell in love (slowly) and though she was ruined, Nate didn’t care-he loved her-loved her enough to try and tell her not to work for Lord Rathbourne, but it didn’t work as she worked for him for two days until she decided that she didn’t want to work for him, so she went to find him, but he was dead when she found him.

Close to the end, she and Nate went back to the house and found the seal before her house caught on fire, and she was knocked unconscious for a couple of days, so it was left up to Nathaniel to present the seal to the society, while Gabriella met her other family. In the end, Gabriella said yes to Nathanial’s proposal, which was a perfect ending….

Until the epilogue.

Until the feeling that in the next book, all hell is going to break loose.

I have no idea why I feel that…but I do.

This was a really good book and now I wanna read more Victoria Alexander…

Book Review: New Spring [Wheel of Time, #0] by Robert Jordan

New Spring (Wheel of Time, #0)New Spring by Robert Jordan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I honestly loved the book. Though I’ve read this series kinda backwards with ‘Winter’s Heart’ when I was in middle school and I loved it. And now that I’m older, I wanted to read the series again, starting with this book (though I need the rest of them).

Since this book was long, I think I need to break it down by separating it into two parts.

So the first part was when Moiraine and her friend, Siuan, were Accepted and was in the room when the Amyriln Seat had a vision: the Dragon will be reborn again, on Dragonmount. With the other Accepteds, they went to different towns, searching for the baby but couldn’t find him. Also they were in training to be Aes Sedai, and they did-Moiraine passed, doing one hundred weaves, and I think Siuan did too-and then they had to do some work for the Blue Aes Sedai for a while, until Moiraine left to find the baby boy that was born on Dragonmount.

During her journey, Moiraine meets some Aes Sedai, including Casudane, who called her a child (which she is not), and then told her that she’ll be checking to make sure she was there, and she also had to travel with the other two Aes Sedai that was with Casduane to that place that I forgot, but I know the castle is called Aesdaishan Palace.

The second part of the story had to deal with Lan Mandragoran, how he was fighting the Blight, then how he was returning home with Bakuma and Ryne (which turned out to be a Darkfriend….dang it). The only character I didn’t like was that woman who kept Lan on a tight leash, but the funny part was that when Moiraine meet Lan and she got wet because of him, and wanted to make him scream, but was nearly close to doing it too.

BUT THE ENDING. THE ENDING….THE ENDING, AS ALWAYS, MAKE ME MAD. First off, the Aes Sedai in the Palace turned out to be a Black Ajah, and though Moiraine did her best to try and save the boy and the girl, that stupid Ajah made her let them go, making them fall. But I’m glad that both Lan and Moiraine are alright, and then the Epilogue made me feel a lot better when Lan became Moiraine’s Warder.

Book Review: A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James

A Kiss at Midnight (Fairy Tales, #1)A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book…is beautifully written and it made me cry to the point that I almost had to put the book down. It also made me a little bit mad, because I wanted to shove Kate and Gabriel’s heads together and yell, “NOW, KISS, GOTDANGIT!!” But in all honestly, I loved this book, like I always do Mrs. Eloisa James’s novels, and it makes me want to read more of them.

What I Liked About the Book: The characters, oddly enough. I loved Kate, Gabriel, Victoria, Algie, and Lady Worthe-Henry. These characters are my favorite ones…I knew the reason why I loved them, but I lost the thought as I’m sitting here writing this review. I also loved the dresses and how slow Kate and Gabriel fell in love, even though she was there to pretend to be Victoria. And I also loved those three dogs-including Freddie.

The One Thing I Disliked About the Book: The stepmama. Good LORD I wanted to strangle that woman…but thank god she appeared in the beginning of the book and was mentioned throughout the rest.

At first…I didn’t ship Kate and Gabriel. I really didn’t-she was a lady but worked for her stepmama (as the hundreds of Cinderellas did), he was a prince who was supposed to marry a Russian Princess…but then as I kept reading, I slowly, slowly, slowly started to ship them. And now they’re my OTP-right next to Elijah and Jemma and the Duke of Fletcher and Poppy.

Book Review: The Ghost King (Legend of Drizzt, #19) by R.A. Salvatore

The Ghost King (Forgotten Realms: Transitions, #3; Legend of Drizzt, #19)The Ghost King by R.A. Salvatore

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So…this book tho….it was amazing….BUT THE ENDING DONE MADE ME MAD. Why did this book make me mad? Then keep reading the review to find out…

To start off the book, Catti-Brie goes into a weird trance THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE ENTIRE BOOK, which ticked me off, really. In one scene, she thinks she’s petting Guenhwyvar and in another, she thought she was in a room with Drizzt, giving him her heart when she was with Wulfgar. I think Drizzt almost shed a tear every single time she went through this trance, but thank god for Jarlaxle.

Speaking of Jarlaxle…..WHERE THE DEUCE DID YOU COME FROM, BRUH? Like…everything was fine, hunky-dory, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU SHOWED UP WITH THE FRIGGIN’ EYEPATCH FOR DRIZZT, EVEN THOUGH THE STUPID DRAGOLICH IS AFTER YOU. But in all honestly, you did a good job.

And that stupid illithid? Yharaskrik? He thought he could control Hephaestus, but sadly he couldn’t. He, along with the Crenshinibon, molded with the dragon to turn him to the Ghost King, and the only thing Hephaestus wanted with Jarlaxle (apparently Jarlaxle did something to him that the dragon wants revenge?) BUT THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN, DID IT? Nope, because Drizzt, in the last and final battle, crack through the side of the Ghost King and TORE HIM UP IN THE INSIDE. LIKE….I CAN’T WITH THAT.

But Danica and Cadderly’s children fight so well as well (though I can’t remember their names at the moment).

But I loved the book as usual.
